Job summary

North Kent Colleges Group is seeking five Pastoral Support Coaches across its four colleges. You will provide pastoral support, guidance and early intervention to help students overcome barriers, stay engaged with their studies and achieve their goals. Hours are 37 per week, 36 weeks per annum.

Pay is £20,003.91 pro rata plus £3,732.84 holiday pay (£28,974 full-time equivalent). Applications close 11 October 2026; interviews the week starting 19 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Pastoral support, mentoring, youth work, education, welfare or a similar setting experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with students, parents and staff.
• Ability to identify barriers to attendance, engagement and achievement and act proactively.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support, guidance and early intervention to help students overcome barriers and stay engaged with studies.
• Identify and address barriers to attendance, engagement, retention and achievement.
• Collaborate with curriculum teams, Welfare & Safeguarding, Learning Support, parents, carers and external agencies to ensure right support.
• Support safeguarding and work with Welfare colleagues to promote effective safeguarding.
