Job summary

Kempston Academy is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to help students overcome learning barriers and reach their potential. The role works with the behaviour and student support teams to reduce exclusions and establish systems that enable pupils to return to lessons ready to learn.

The post includes full induction, safeguarding emphasis and a DBS check. 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, term-time plus training days, £24,471–£26,524; closing date 18 Sept 2026.

Pastoral Support Assistant

Location: Kempston Academy, Bedford

Contract: Permanent

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term time only + training days)

Salary: Level 4 Point 9 - 14 £24,471 - £26,524

We are looking to appoint a passionate and skilled Pastoral Support Assistant who is able to provide support to students who need help to overcome barriers due to their learning behaviours in order to achieve their full potential.

The role will involve working with the Assistant Head for Behaviour, Heads of Learning and Student Support staff to develop systems to reduce all exclusions (internal, external, fixed-term) and provide a structured space and environment which supports students to return to lessons, ready to learn.
