Job description

Pastoral Lead – Alternative Provision – ASAP Start

Are you passionate about supporting young people who have been excluded from mainstream education? Do you have the experience and resilience to make a real difference in a specialist setting? This excellent Alternative Provision in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Lead to join their team as soon as possible to support students who have been excluded from mainstream education.

This role involves providing emotional and behavioural support to students who face significant challenges in their education. You will work closely with students, staff, and external agencies to ensure each young person receives the care and guidance they need to succeed. The ideal candidate will have experience working with SEMH needs, excellent behaviour management skills, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with students. Previous Head of Year or Pastoral Lead experience is essential to be considered for this role.

Job Role:
  1. Supporting students with SEMH needs who have been excluded from mainstream education.
  2. Managing behaviour effectively and providing targeted interventions to help students self-regulate.
  3. Working closely with families, external agencies, and school staff to provide holistic support.
  4. Implementing behaviour and pastoral support plans tailored to individual needs.
  5. Leading on safeguarding and well-being initiatives within the school.
  6. Acting as on call support for teachers struggling with behaviour management.
