Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is recruiting a Pastoral Assistant for an alternative provision in Cradley Heath. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, starting after October half term, with ongoing term-by-term review.

The successful candidate will support pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH needs, promoting emotional wellbeing and applying PBS strategies rather than academic teaching. Experience in managing challenging behaviour and safeguarding awareness are essential components of the role.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or pastoral needs (essential)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting young people

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs and promote emotional wellbeing
• Manage challenging behaviour and support emotional regulation
• Implement person-centred Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies
• Provide pastoral and safeguarding support as part of a holistic approach
