Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work across Newport (NP20) primary schools. The role supports pupils across age ranges, with 1:1 and small-group interventions, and a focus on ALN/SEN. Flexible full-time/part-time options are available, with PAYE weekly pay.

Ideal candidates will have experience with children, strong communication, safeguarding commitment, and a patient, adaptable approach to diverse learning needs. DBS checks required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in a school, childcare, care, youth work or similar setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils across Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 classrooms.
• Providing 1:1 support and small-group interventions for pupils.
• Supporting children with ALN/SEN.
• Helping pupils remain engaged, focused and motivated during lessons.
• Supporting the development of literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Adapting learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Assisting pupils with social interaction, confidence building and independence.
• Supporting classroom routines and transitions throughout the school day.
• Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support pupil progress.
• Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Maintaining accurate records and feedback where required.
