Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils across Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 classrooms.
  • Providing 1:1 support and small-group interventions for pupils.
  • Supporting children with ALN/SEN.
  • Helping pupils remain engaged, focused and motivated during lessons.
  • Supporting the development of literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Adapting learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Assisting pupils with social interaction, confidence building and independence.
  • Supporting classroom routines and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Maintaining accurate records and feedback where required.

Learning Support Assistant - Newport (NP20)

Location: Newport (NP20)

Contract: Full-time, Part-time & Flexible Opportunities Available

Salary: From £92 per day (paid weekly)

Teaching Personnel is recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work across a range of primary schools in the Newport (NP20) area.

This role is perfect for individuals with experience in schools, childcare, care, youth work, coaching, or support work who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and school staff to provide targeted support to pupils across a variety of age groups and learning abilities. You will play a key role in helping children access learning, develop essential skills, and thrive within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils across Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 classrooms
  • Providing 1:1 support and small-group interventions for pupils requiring additional assistance
  • Supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN/SEN)
  • Helping pupils remain engaged, focused and motivated during lessons

What We’re Looking For
Essential
  • Experience working with children or young people in a school, childcare, care, youth work, coaching or similar setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic and supportive approach
  • Confidence supporting children with a range of learning needs and abilities
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing
  • Flexibility and adaptability within different classroom environments
Desirable
  • Experience supporting pupils with ALN/SEN
  • Understanding of behaviour support strategies
  • Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Health & Social Care or related qualifications
  • Experience delivering targeted interventions or support programmes
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
