Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work in a welcoming secondary school in Carmarthenshire, helping pupils with additional learning needs reach their potential. You will support learners 1:1 and in small groups, assisting with academic, social, and emotional development.

Welsh-speaking candidates are welcomed though not essential; a DBS is required or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Ability to provide two professional references.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils.
  • Help learners access the curriculum and stay on task.
  • Provide positive behaviour and emotional support.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams.
  • Encourage pupil confidence, independence and engagement.

Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work within a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Carmarthenshire, helping mainstream pupils who require additional support to achieve their full potential.

This successful and inclusive school serves a large local community and prides itself on creating a positive environment where all learners can thrive. The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), moderate learning difficulties and pupils who may need extra encouragement to engage in lessons.

Working closely with teaching staff, you'll play a key role in helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally whilst building their confidence and independence.

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Helping learners access the curriculum and stay on task
Providing positive behaviour and emotional support
Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams
Encouraging pupil confidence, independence and engagement
Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom
