Job summary

Dorset Travel is recruiting a Passenger Assistant to support children and young people with additional needs on journeys to and from home and school in the Wareham area. The role is approx 25 hours per week, Term Time Only, with pay commencing at £13.28 per hour.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe environment on travel and providing care and assistance to the pupil served Mountjoy School. Applicants should be able to morning and afternoon shifts to align with school times.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.
• Understanding safeguarding children.
• Ability to identify/report hazards.
• Customer care.

Job description

Dorset Travel coordinate the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supply and support transport need for Mainstream, Child Care as well as Adults.

A Regular Passenger Assistant is required from the Wareham Area contracted at approximately 25 hours per week - Term Time Only commencing at £13.28 per hour.

The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people with additional needs providing assistance/support in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school.

This vacancy is to support a young person/s serving Mountjoy School.

Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times.

Dorset Travel is looking for caring, flexible and responsible passenger assistant who have:

• Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.
• An understanding of safeguarding children.
• Recognition of a hazard and how to report.

You must be physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of a Passenger Assistant.
