Job summary

Wirral Council is recruiting casual Passenger Assistants to support home to school transport for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. You will supervise pupils and help ensure their safety on vehicles contracted to the Authority.

Hours vary (1–20 per shift) to cover sickness and absence of permanent escorts; duties may include boarding, alighting and wheelchair assistance. An Enhanced DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Casual staff to act as Passenger Assistants on home to school transport for children with SEND attending special schools and bases.
• Hours vary from 1–20 depending on the journey; cover for sickness or leave of permanent escorts.
• Enhanced DBS check for adults and children required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and ensure their health and safety while travelling on contracted vehicles.
• Assist with boarding, alighting and wheelchair handling as needed.

Casual staff required to act as Passenger Assistants on home to school transport for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities attending special schools and bases.

Passenger Assistants are employed to supervise children and to ensure their health and safety whilst travelling on vehicles contracted to the Authority. Casual staff will be employed to cover for sickness or leave of absence for permanent escorts employed by the Authority.

Hours will vary from 1-20 depending on the individual journey and length of time the cover is required. Passenger Assistants will work in taxis, minibuses and wheelchair accessible vehicles.
