Job summary

24x7 Group in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking a Passenger Assistant to support SEN and vulnerable passengers to and from school and care facilities. This role involves working with drivers, ensuring safety, comfort, and professional interactions with passengers, carers, and staff.

Term-time style hours, 12.5 to 20 hours weekly, with monthly pay and a pathway to secure, long-term contracts. Training provided, plus pension; enhanced DBS checks required due to working with children.

Qualifications

• Pass an enhanced criminal record check as you will be working with children, young persons and/or vulnerable adults.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• First Aid Training - and willing to undergo advanced specialist medical training.

Responsibilities

• Transport special needs (SEN) or vulnerable children and adults to and from school, college, or day care centres.
• To work in an effective, safe, flexible manner and support the operation of the company.
• To quickly establish positive and professional relationships with passengers, their carers/parents, and the key people at the establishments they attend.
• To assist the driver in company supplied vehicles, which includes - cars, 8 seat people carriers and large wheelchair accessible vehicles.
• To be patient and empathic with the passengers and be able to keep them occupied and comfortable on journeys.

PASSENGER ASSISTANT ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Salary: £560- £860 per month (route dependent)

Hours: 12.5 to 20 per week (varies by route)

This role involves driving children (Child Workforce LW 9) and conveying adults who need to be transported due to age, illness, or disability (Adult Workforce LW 12). The position therefore meets the definition of regulated activity under both child and adult workforce legislative wording and is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check with relevant barred list checks.
