The Parts Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Parts Department, ensuring stock control, first-time parts availability, and excellent customer service. This role involves leading the team, monitoring financial and sales targets, implementing effective processes, and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and customers. The Parts Supervisor supports the Aftersales Manager in achieving departmental and dealership objectives.
Develop and agree annual sales and operating plans and budgets, reviewing short, medium, and long-term objectives to achieve targets.
Assess market potential, review forecasts and profit targets, and communicate plans to maintain a motivated and committed team.
Review and manage the organisation and staffing of the parts team, including recruitment, training, and development.
Create and implement control systems for all departmental resources and monitor factors affecting achievement of plans.
Support and implement sales plans to promote profitability and achievement of departmental objectives.
Ensure efficient and timely operation of administrative systems and operating procedures.
Manage manufacturer stock orders and focus on achieving parts purchase targets.
Complete statistical reports and other required documentation by set deadlines.
Oversee invoicing of parts at the time of issue and ensure collection of payments.
Conduct perpetual and annual full stock checks.
Monitor stock levels and obsolete stock to ensure a 90% first-time parts pick availability.
Maintain parts reception area and showroom displays to high housekeeping standards.
Resolve all customer parts enquiries and complaints efficiently and professionally.
Ensure genuine parts and accessories are purchased and supplied where possible.
Manage stock locations, values, returns, surcharges, and all warranty returns and credits.
Oversee trade customers and accounts to ensure excellent service.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and other internal departments.
Ensure the department is tidy, well-organised, and efficiently run.
Establish, implement, and regularly review a training programme for the team, covering department control, stock management, sales performance, and customer handling.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
Excellent organisational, planning, and analytical skills.
Knowledge of parts operations, stock management, and automotive sales.
Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
