Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Teaching Assistant / Pupil Support Worker for an Alternative Provision in Accrington, Lancashire. The role is part-time, Monday to Wednesday during term-time, with a start date of 1st September 2026. Pay rate is 0.89 per day (PAYE), depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Qualifications such as Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Youth Work, or Health and Social Care are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 and Small Group Support: Assist teachers in delivering tailored activities designed to re-engage disaffected or vulnerable learners.
• Behavioural Mentoring: Use de-escalation strategies and positive reinforcement to manage challenging behaviour and promote emotional regulation.
• Relationship Building: Serve as a positive role model to help pupils build self-esteem and resilience.
• Progress Tracking: Collaborate with SENDCos and senior staff to monitor development and feed back on education plans.
