Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Pupil Support Worker / Behaviour & Pastoral Mentor for a Blackpool secondary school starting September 2026. You will deliver pastoral sessions for 11–16-year-olds, supporting them in classrooms and pastoral suites to maintain focus and engagement.

The role is Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM, term-time only (30–32.5 hours/week) with a long-term contract path. Pay is daily PAYE, based on experience. Apply to make a real impact in student welfare.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils (11-16) in schools, alternative provision, youth centres, or residential care settings.
• Strong communication skills with an approachable, resilient, and non-judgemental manner.
• Ability to set clear professional boundaries while building positive rapport with vulnerable youth.
• De-escalation or positive handling training (e.g., Team Teach, CPI, MAPA) is advantageous, though not essential.

Responsibilities

• 1-to-1 & Small Group Mentoring: Deliver targeted pastoral sessions to secondary students facing SEMH challenges.
• Classroom & Inclusion Support: Support pupils within mainstream classrooms and inclusion/pastoral suites.
• Positive De-escalation: Apply proactive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Attendance & Welfare Tracking: Monitor daily student engagement and log safeguarding reports.
• Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work with Heads of Year, Safeguarding Leads, SENCOs, and parents to deliver support plans.
