Job summary

Lift St James the Great is seeking a part-time teaching assistant to support pupils across lessons and activities. You will work closely with teachers to help pupils access learning, build confidence and reach their potential.

We welcome applicants who may not already hold a Level 3 TA qualification, as we offer a training programme and clear routes to Level 5 qualifications and teacher training. Term-time schedule aligns with school day, with a 12:30–3:30pm shift.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in maths and English (grade 4 or above) or willingness to work towards functional skills qualifications.
• Willingness to train towards Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Commitment to equality, safeguarding and inclusive education.
• Good communication and ability to build trusted relationships with pupils and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils to access lessons and achieve learning goals, including those with SEND.
• Help pupils build independent learning skills and manage their own progress.
• Work alongside teachers to plan, teach and assess high-quality lessons.
• Guide individual pupils and small groups through targeted interventions.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and support their behaviour, wellbeing and personal care.
• Collaborate with staff, SENCO and families to help every child thrive.
