Job summary

Lift St James the Great is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant for the PM shift (12:30–3:30pm, Monday to Friday) at ME19 6SD. The role supports teachers to help pupils access learning, build confidence and reach their potential.

You’ll assist one-to-one or in small groups, support behaviour and welfare, and develop basic IT skills while working toward a Level 3 TA qualification, with routes to Level 5 and teacher training.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above or working towards functional skills.
• Good communication and ability to build trusted relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy and resilience when supporting a wide range of pupils and situations.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils to access lessons and achieve learning goals, including pupils with SEND.
• Help pupils develop independent learning skills and monitor progress.
• Work with teachers to plan, teach and assess high-quality lessons.
• Guide individual pupils and small groups through targeted interventions.
• Foster positive relationships and support pupil wellbeing and behaviour.
• Collaborate with staff, SENCO and families to help every child thrive.
