Job summary

Lift St Helen's in Barnsley is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to help students access lessons and achieve their learning goals. The role is 26 hours per week over four days and offered on a temporary basis, supporting pupils with varied needs including SEND.

You’ll work closely with teachers to plan engaging activities, monitor progress, foster independence and well-being, and build trusted relationships with pupils.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or currently working towards it).
• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4 or above).
• Experience supporting children.
• Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with SEND.
• Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc.
• Understanding of child development and how children learn.
• Positive behaviour management experience.
• UK right to work - sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Support students to access lesson content and achieve learning goals, including those with specific SEND needs.
• Work with teachers to plan engaging lessons and assess progress.
• Help students build independent learning skills and manage their own progress.
• Work with small groups or individual students on targeted learning activities.
• Create positive relationships with students and support their wellbeing and personal development.
• Work with teachers, parents and carers to help every student succeed.
• Be flexible to support in all areas of the school as and when needed.
