Job summary

Lift St Helen's seeks a part-time Teaching Assistant to support learning for pupils aged 3–11, across 26 hours over 4 days. You will work closely with teachers to help students access content, develop independence and achieve goals, including those with SEND. A flexible, proactive approach and genuine passion for primary education are essential.

The role offers collaborative professional development and the chance to positively impact children’s education within a supportive school community.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or currently working towards it).
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4 or above).
  • Experience supporting children in an education setting.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs).
  • Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc.
  • Understanding of child development and how children learn.
  • Positive behaviour management experience.
  • UK right to work - sponsorship for this position is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Support students to access lesson content and achieve learning goals, including SEND pupils.
  • Plan engaging lessons with teachers and assess student progress.
  • Help students develop independent learning skills and manage their own progress.
  • Work with small groups or individuals on targeted learning activities.
  • Create positive relationships with students and support wellbeing and personal development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents and carers to help each student succeed.
  • Be flexible to support in all areas of the school as needed.
