Job summary

Lift St Helen's is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to support learning for pupils aged 3–11 within a school setting. The role is 26 hours per week across 4 days and is temporary, with duties spanning classroom support, lesson planning collaboration and student wellbeing.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, support SEND pupils, and help develop independent learning skills while contributing to a positive educational environment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or currently working towards it).
• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4 or above).
• Experience supporting children.
• Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with SEND.
• Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc
• Understanding of child development and how children learn.
• UK right to work - we are unable offer sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

• Support students to access lesson content and achieve their learning goals, including those with specific SEND needs.
• Work together with teachers to plan engaging lessons and assess how students are progressing.
• Help students build independent learning skills and manage their own progress.
• Work with small groups or individual students on targeted learning activities.
• Create positive relationships with students and support their wellbeing and personal development.
• Work with teachers, parents and carers to help every student succeed.
• Be flexible to support in all areas of the school as and when needed.
