Job summary

The Old School Children''s Centre is seeking a dynamic and experienced SENDCo to support our early years team and advocate for children with SEND and their families.

Applicants will have prior experience working directly with young children with SEN, knowledge of frameworks, and the ability to coordinate referrals, signposting and applications while building positive relationships with parents and professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience working directly with young children with SEN.
• Knowledge of SEN frameworks, guidance and best practices.
• Ability to signpost, refer and navigate applications.

Responsibilities

• Uphold ethos and standards, supporting day-to-day management.
• Promote inclusive practice and SEN awareness among practitioners.
• Advise and lead colleagues in delivering an SEN-friendly curriculum.
• Work directly with individual or small groups of children with additional needs as inclusion worker.
• Liaise with parents, carers, practitioners and professionals; arrange meetings and records.
• Navigate referral processes and funding applications (e.g., Early Years SEN Funding).
• Maintain records evidencing a child’s journey and progress.
• Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Ensure children’s wellbeing and educational needs are met at all times.
• Support self-evaluation and action planning within the setting.
