The Old School Children''s Centre is seeking a dynamic and experienced SENDCo to support our early years team and advocate for children with SEND and their families.
Applicants will have prior experience working directly with young children with SEN, knowledge of frameworks, and the ability to coordinate referrals, signposting and applications while building positive relationships with parents and professionals.
The Old School seeks a dynamic and experienced SendCo to support our experienced early years team and advocate for our SEN children and their families.
Applicants will have previous experience working directly with young children with SEN, identifying emerging need and implementing effective interventions and demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of the frameworks, national guidance and expected practices within SEN. They will be able to effectively build positive professional relationships with practitioners, parents and external agencies and demonstrate experience in monitoring progress and navigating the signposting, referral and application processes.
The working pattern of this position is flexible and open to discussion. Candidates should be aware that there is a need and expectation for some flexibility to ensure SendCo availability for meetings and to best support our children. You will be expected to work independently at times, managing your own calendar and timetable.
This role is 15 hours per week for a minimum of 42 weeks per annum, though all year (50 week) is an option.

Working in partnership with senior management the SendCo upholds the ethos of the setting, ensuring that children with SEND are advocated in policy and practice.
The SendCo actively promotes inclusive practice within the setting, ensuring that children with SEND are supported within their individual needs and enabled to access a full curriculum.
The SendCo supports and leads the practitioner team in identify emerging needs and building a unique curriculum to support each child’s learning and development journey.
Following the SEN code of practice, the SendCo works with parents/carers and other professionals to ensure that the continuing learning journey of a child with SEND meets their unique needs.
