Job summary

Inspiration Trust's Hethersett Academy in Norwich is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our SEND Room. You will support pupils with SEND, helping them access learning and build confidence in a calm, inclusive environment.

The role is part-time (34.5 hours/week) over 5 days, 39 teaching weeks per year, with an October start and onboarding checks. NVQ2 or equivalent and a commitment to safeguarding are preferred.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient and committed to helping pupils
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and adults
• Works effectively as part of a team
• Enthusiastic about helping pupils develop confidence, independence and practical learning skills
• Experience or training in delivering interventions such as literacy, numeracy, speech and language, or emotional wellbeing
• Experience of working with pupils with SEND
• Basic understanding of child development and learning
• Understanding safeguarding responsibilities and confidentiality
• Ability to evaluate learning needs
• Ability to use ICT effectively to support learning
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Teaching Assistance, or equivalent experience
• First aid training or experience supporting pupils with medical needs

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils’ learning and development through structured activities and targeted support programmes.
• Working with individuals and groups of pupils, including those with SEND or EAL, to access learning.
• Monitoring pupil progress, recording achievements and providing feedback to teachers.
• Delivering interventions focused on literacy, numeracy, speech and language, emotional literacy and social skills.
• Supporting positive behaviour through classroom management and de-escalation strategies.
• Assisting teachers with classroom activities, resource preparation and ICT usage.
• Supporting pupils during assessments, trips and other activities.
• Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues and external professionals.
• Maintaining accurate records of support and contributing to SEND reviews and progress discussions.
