Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking a Reception Year Teacher for a part-time, long-term temporary role starting in September 2026. You will lead high-quality early years teaching, focusing on readiness for learning within a nurturing, inclusive primary environment.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS or equivalent, have EYFS experience, and demonstrate a creative, patient approach with strong classroom management and teamwork skills. Safeguarding commitment is essential.

Qualifications

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent qualification.
• Experience teaching in Reception or early years settings recommended.
• Strong understanding of child development and EYFS.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons aligned with the EYFS framework.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Support children’s development across communication, language, social and early learning skills.
• Use observation to monitor progress and inform next steps.
• Promote positive behaviour and routines.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants and early years staff.
• Build relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Support smooth transitions into and within early years provision.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and development.
• Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities.
