Job summary

Academics Ltd in Greenwich seeks an experienced Primary SENCO to provide specialist SEND leadership and quality assurance one day per week during term time. You will work with the school's SEND team to oversee complex casework, EHCPs, annual reviews and multi-agency collaboration, while coaching phase SEND leads to build confidence and expertise.

Qualifications

• Has proven experience as a SENCO within a primary school setting.
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Holds the relevant SENCO qualification or has appropriate SENCO training and experience.
• Strong understanding of SEND legislation, statutory guidance and EHCP processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex SEND casework, including EHCP applications, annual reviews, referrals, statutory deadlines and the quality of supporting evidence.
• Lead focused case discussions and contribute to complex professional and multi-agency meetings.
• Coach and mentor phase SEND leads, supporting their professional development and confidence in managing casework and leading meetings.
• Quality-assure pupil support plans, provision and interventions, ensuring external-agency recommendations are implemented effectively.
• Provide specialist input into communication with families where additional expertise is required.
• Monitor actions, responsibilities and review dates, escalating significant concerns promptly.
• Work collaboratively with the existing SEND team to strengthen processes and maintain effective, consistent SEND provision.
• Agree a practical weekly schedule covering on-site support, priority meetings and staff coaching.
