Job summary

Surrey Choices is seeking a Part-Time Passenger Assistant in Walton-on-Thames to help adults and children with disabilities travel safely and comfortably. The role involves assisting boarding/disembarking, adapting to individual needs, and maintaining calm, respectful service throughout journeys.

Regular travel across Surrey-based services is expected, with morning and afternoon shifts and potential overtime, including occasional evenings and weekends. Starting pay is £12.98 per hour.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to handle and lift luggage or mobility aids.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes to keep passengers safe.
• Attention to detail and confidential records.
• Experience in similar role an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised assistance to adults and children during boarding and disembarking, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Understand and accommodate passengers' specific needs and communication preferences.
• Communicate with passengers, caregivers, or family members to establish trust and requirements.
• Offer guidance and reassurance to promote calm travel environment.
• Safely handle and transport luggage and mobility aids.
• Maintain professionalism, empathy and customer service.
• Monitor and respond to passenger feedback and issues promptly.
• Collaborate with Community Transport to schedule passenger assistance.
• Adhere to regulations, policies and procedures for safety and confidentiality.
• Keep confidential records of interactions and follow-up actions including safeguarding reports.
• Participate in training and stay updated on best practices.
