Job summary

Dorset Council is recruiting a Passenger Assistant to support children and young people with additional needs on transport to and from home and school in the Weymouth area. You will join a caring, flexible and responsible team and work approximately 14 hours per week during term time, starting at £13.48 per hour.

Full induction training will be provided, covering safeguarding, manual handling, emergency first aid and customer care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.
• Understanding of safeguarding children.
• Recognition of hazards and how to report them.
• Customer care focus.
• Physical fitness to assist with lifting, pushing and mobility.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with additional needs on transport to and from home/school.
• Maintain a safe environment during journeys and assist with daily activities.
• Participate in induction training including safeguarding, manual handling, first aid, and customer care.
