St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Wrexham is seeking a part-time Lower KS2 teacher to join our caring and forward-thinking team. The role is 0.8 FTE initially, decreasing to 0.6 FTE from February 2027, covering Years 3 and 4 with class teaching, PPA duties and broader school involvement.

The successful candidate will have KS2 teaching experience, strong knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales, and a commitment to high standards, safeguarding, and bilingual education in our welcoming community.

Qualifications

  • Qualified teacher with current QTS and eligibility to teach in Wales.
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 2.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

  • Teach across Years 3 and 4 with flexibility to cover job-share arrangements.
  • Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that motivate learners.
  • Use assessment information to track progress and plan next steps in learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, contribute to planning and moderation.
  • Support bilingual Welsh curriculum delivery and promote Welsh language use.

About the Role

Temporary for 1 year - To start as soon as possible Autumn 2026

(Initially 0.8 contract and decreasing to 0.6 from February 2027)

The Governors of St Mary’s Catholic Primary School invite applications from an excellent, enthusiastic and creative teacher to join our dedicated and forward-thinking team. We are seeking a flexible and committed teacher to work across Years 3 and 4, supporting established job-share arrangements. The role will include class teaching, PPA cover and making a full contribution to the wider life of our successful and caring school.

St Mary’s is a happy, caring and inclusive school community where every child is valued and supported to achieve their full potential. While being a practising Catholic is desirable, it is not essential.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an effective, innovative and reflective practitioner with experience of teaching in Key Stage 2
  • Have a strong knowledge and understanding of the Curriculum for Wales
  • Demonstrate high expectations for all learners and a commitment to raising standards
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons that motivate and challenge pupils
  • Use assessment information purposefully to track pupil progress and plan next steps in learning
  • Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management rooted in positive relationships and consistent expectations
  • Actively promote the school’s ethos of inclusion, celebrating the rich diversity of our community
  • Communicate confidently and professionally with children, colleagues, parents and external agencies
  • Be highly competent in the use and development of digital technologies to enhance learning
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive team, contributing to planning and moderation
  • Create a classroom environment that is stimulating, purposeful and supportive of independent learning
  • Be confident in delivering the Welsh curriculum and committed to promoting bilingualism
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning, reflecting on practice and embracing new initiatives
  • Demonstrate a secure understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and promote the wellbeing of all pupils
