Job summary

Priory Hospital Altrincham is looking to recruit a Part-time Chef to join the catering team. This 20-hour-per-week role will involve planning, preparing and cooking meals while meeting dietary requirements and maintaining food safety standards.

You will support the daily catering operation, manage stock where needed, liaise with suppliers and ensure meals are produced on time and within budget. The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services for mental health conditions.

Qualifications

• Numerate, literate and NVQ2 or equivalent with basic food hygiene qualification.
• Organises and prioritises own workload within established procedure.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to monitor costs and liaise with suppliers.
• Good organisation and time management.
• Knowledge of specialised diets (e.g., Dysphagia, Allergens).
• First class customer service skills and experience.
• Experience in a professional kitchen environment.
• Experience producing meals for large groups on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares and cooks meals, considering dietary requirements within the unit.
• Keeps stock costs under control and checks deliveries.
• Takes full shift responsibility for catering when Head Chef is absent.
• Monitors waste and ensures cost-effective production.
• Maintains food safety standards per policies and regulations.
