Job summary

Life Services Group is seeking a compassionate Funeral Service Specialist to lead the branch day-to-day at W S Harrison & Son Funeral Directors, Whitley Bay. You will support families, manage ceremonies, and guide them through funeral plans with empathy and professionalism.

The role offers part-time hours (20 per week) with training provided, and a focus on building trusted local relationships. A Full UK Driving Licence is required and weekend/on-call work may be needed.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and empathetic in emotionally sensitive situations.
• Experience in customer service, care or admin is beneficial (full training provided).
• Strong communication, organisation and administrative skills.
• Confident with legal paperwork.
• PC literate—Microsoft Office, Outlook and internal systems (training provided).
• Willing to work weekends/on-call and hold a Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Support families with empathy, professionalism and attention to detail.
• Arrange funerals meeting family wishes, cultural practices and legal requirements with clarity and compassion.
• Oversee day-to-day branch operations, including administration and presentation.
• Build relationships with suppliers, care homes and local community groups.
• Lead chapel visits as required, supporting families with their requests.
• Raise awareness of funeral plans and contribute to plan sales within the branch.
• Train in Funeral Conducting to assist with ceremonial duties during peak times.
