Job summary

The Part-Time Finance People in Warrington is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a part-time, self-employed role. You will partner with owner-managers, deliver robust financial reporting, drive commercial insight, and help steer profitability with hands-on, on-site support in Warrington and surrounding areas.

Expect a minimum commitment of two days per week on client sites, with a focus on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and strong financial controls.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or by experience.
• Minimum 3 years' UK-based experience as Financial Controller.
• Experience supporting SMEs and owner‑managed businesses.
• Strong management accounting and board reporting experience.
• Extensive budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Excellent commercial awareness and business partnering skills.
• Experience improving financial controls, processes and reporting.
• Ability to work independently and manage client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and board packs.
• Deliver KPI reporting and performance analysis.
• Analyse revenue, margins, profitability, stock and costs.
• Provide commercial recommendations to improve profitability.
• Translate financial data into practical actions for leadership.
• Lead budgeting and annual planning processes.
• Produce rolling forecasts and scenario planning models.
• Maintain detailed cash flow forecasts.
• Identify risks, opportunities and KPI drivers.
• Support strategic planning and investment decisions.
• Partner with owners and senior stakeholders.
• Assist with growth, pricing, profitability reviews and investments.
• Build confidence in financial reporting across the business.
• Strengthen financial controls and processes.
• Drive continuous improvement and finance best practice.
• Mentor and develop finance team members.
