Job summary

The Part-Time Finance People are seeking an experienced Financial Controller for Wirral and surrounding areas. This is a hands-on, client-facing, self-employed role requiring a minimum of two days per week onsite.

You will partner with SME owners, deliver robust financial leadership, and help drive profitability and cash flow. Responsibilities include monthly management accounts, KPI reporting, budgeting, forecasts, cash flow, and ongoing improvements to controls.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification required.
• Minimum 3 years UK-based experience as Financial Controller or equivalent.
• Experience supporting SMEs/owner-managed businesses.
• Strong management accounting and board reporting experience.
• Excellent commercial awareness and business partnering skills.
• Experience improving controls, processes and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts and board packs.
• Deliver KPI reporting and performance analysis.
• Analyse revenue, margins, profitability, stock and costs.
• Provide commercial recommendations to improve profitability.
• Translate financial data into practical actions for leadership teams.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Support strategic planning and investment decisions.
• Build confidence in financial reporting across the business.
