Job summary

The Part-Time Finance People in Manchester seeks an experienced Financial Controller to partner directly with owner-managers, delivering robust financial management and commercial insights to drive growth and profitability.

This client-facing, self-employed role requires a minimum commitment of two days per week on site in Manchester, with potential to expand the portfolio as demand grows.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years UK-based Financial Controller experience.
• Experience supporting SMEs/owner‑managed businesses.
• Strong management accounting & board reporting experience.
• Extensive budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management expertise.
• Excellent commercial awareness and business partnering skills.
• Experience with Xero; Sage/QuickBooks desirable.
• Able to attend Manchester client sites at least two days per week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts and board packs.
• Deliver KPI reporting and performance analysis.
• Analyse revenue, margins, profitability, stock and costs.
• Provide commercial recommendations to improve profitability and business performance.
• Translate financial data into practical actions for leadership.
• Lead budgeting and rolling forecasts; cash flow forecasting.
• Support strategic planning and investment decisions.
• Review and strengthen financial controls and reporting.
• Mentor and develop finance team members as needed.
