Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Part-time Finance Officer in the Supplier Maintenance Team within Purchase to Pay (P2P). The role is a Fixed Term Contract / Secondment for 12 months, based in Chelmsford, working 22.2 hours over three days per week.

The successful candidate will manage payee records, verify bank and VAT details, and ensure payments are accurate and secure while adhering to GDPR and financial controls. Attendance at County Hall is expected one day per week.

Qualifications

• Educated to RQF Level 3 (A level) including English and Maths.
• Experience with P2P, accounts payable, and e-invoicing.
• Attention to detail and data quality in payee records.
• Knowledge of GDPR/data protection and financial controls.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain around 30,000 payee records with accuracy.
• Verify bank details to prevent fraudulent payments.
• Support P2P processes and respond to complex queries.
• Collaborate across P2P and other teams for seamless operations.
• Ensure GDPR-compliant data management and record keeping.
• Identify risks and assist in process improvements for efficiency.
