Job summary

University of Derby invites applications for a Fashion Technical Adviser to join our Technical Services team in Derby. This part-time role (18.5 hours/week) is a 2-year fixed-term contract focused on garment pattern cutting and manufacturing, supporting teaching, learning and student projects within our fashion workshops.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in garment construction, pattern drafting, and production methods, with hands-on operation of industrial sewing machinery

Qualifications

Knowledgeable professional with practical industry or educational experience in garment construction, pattern cutting, and manufacturing processes.
Hands-on experience operating industrial sewing machinery and pressing equipment.

Responsibilities

Prepare workshops for teaching and demonstrate specialist equipment.
Maintain machinery and resources for garment production courses.
Advise on garment construction methods and production techniques.
Contribute to the safe and effective operation of technical facilities.
Support student projects, competition garments and School activities.
Collaborate with staff and students to foster practical learning.
