Job summary

University of Derby is seeking a Fashion Technical Adviser to join our Technical Services team. This part-time role (18.5 hours per week) is a 2-year fixed-term contract, based at the Derby campus.

You will provide expert technical support across fashion programmes, focusing on garment pattern cutting, construction and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on industry or educational experience with industrial sewing machinery, pattern drafting, and production methods, and will help

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating and maintaining industrial sewing machinery and pressing equipment.
• Strong understanding of garment construction techniques, pattern drafting, fitting, finishing and production methods.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist expertise in garment pattern cutting, construction and manufacturing.
• Demonstrate industry-standard equipment to students and staff.
• Support learning in practical workshop environments and maintain safe working practices.
