Job summary

A1 Personnel based in Basildon is seeking a Facilities & Health & Safety Manager for a hands-on, part-time role. You will own site safety, facilities, and compliance within an SME environment, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer.

The role covers H&S policy development, RAMS, contractor management, and ongoing workplace improvements across workshop and office spaces. 3 days per week, on-site in Basildon.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Health & Safety, Facilities or combined H&S/Facilities role.
• Experience within engineering, manufacturing, workshop or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience undertaking risk assessments and implementing H&S systems and procedures.
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and site facilities.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification.
• Experience in SME environments.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day Health & Safety compliance across the business.
• Develop, implement and maintain H&S policies, procedures and systems.
• Ensure compliance with COSHH, PUWER, manual handling and HSE requirements.
• Conduct, review and maintain RAMS.
• Investigate accidents and incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain H&S records and compliance registers.
• Oversee facilities management of site, workshop and office.
• Plan preventive maintenance and manage external contractors.
• Deliver H&S inductions and training; promote safety culture.
• Carry out internal H&S audits and keep documentation up to date.
