Beechfield House Hotel in Beanacre, Wiltshire, near Melksham, seeks a Part-Time Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. No prior kitchen experience is required, but a genuine passion for food and a willingness to learn are essential.

Training will be provided, and the role offers flexible shifts including evenings and weekends. You will assist in daily prep, follow recipes, and help maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene in a busy country-house kitchen.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience is desirable but training will be provided.
• Genuine passion for food and interest in hospitality.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety is an advantage.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef with daily food preparation and cooking.
• Prepare ingredients and dishes according to recipes and hotel standards.
• Support the kitchen team during breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, and private events as required.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations and equipment.
• Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP procedures.
• Assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and correct food storage.
• Help minimise food waste and maintain efficient kitchen operations.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service.
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques and develop culinary skills.
