Activity worker/PA needed mainly over school holidays/weekends for a 15 year old boy with ADHD and some learning disabilities. Days and number of hours worked per day/times worked are very flexible.

In some ways W is like a typical teenager and can have mood swings and be quite cheeky, so enjoying being around teenagers/young adults will be as important as is being patient and calm. Having ADHD means that he is very active and likes to be kept busy all the time. In summer he enjoys being outdoors a lot but he also really enjoys long drives to the coast etc. He also enjoys gaming. From time to time he also enjoys activities such as going bowling, swimming, going to the cinema, Go Ape etc.

Even though he is 15, W is in some ways more like a 9 or 10 year old in that he can be very naive and is quite vulnerable when he doesn't have adult support around him to keep him safe.

The ideal person would be someone who is reasonably outdoorsy and active, and who would enjoy taking him on various outings and doing outdoor activities to help him burn off some energy. We’d also ideally like someone who has previous experience of working with neurodiverse children and/or with teenagers. Due to W liking going out to do activities, a car driver/car owner is essential.

No personal care is needed for this role as W is very able physically, so please note that this is not a 'traditional' carer role.

Basic rate is £12.40 per hour plus holiday pay. This equates to FTE annual salary of £24,108.

Key Responsibilities
  • Social + Leisure activities
  • Support to remain independent
Transportation
  • Full UK driving license
  • Own personal car
