Job summary

Avon Search is seeking an Activities Coordinator for a luxury 20-bed residential care home in Eastbourne. The role focuses on planning and delivering a varied programme of engaging activities to brighten residents' days and promote social connection.

The position is part-time, 22 hours per week, with weekday shifts and occasional weekend events. You will work closely with care staff to tailor activities to individual interests, dignity and wellbeing, creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in activities coordination or care is desirable but not essential.
• Friendly, outgoing and approachable personality.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for planning engaging activities.
• Genuine passion for working with older people.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and respect for dignity and independence.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and deliver a varied programme of activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities.
• Encourage participation in activities and social events at a level that suits residents.
• Organise arts and crafts, games, music sessions, reminiscence and other engaging pastimes.
• Arrange themed days, seasonal celebrations, birthdays and special events.
• Support residents to maintain hobbies and social connections.
• Provide one-to-one activities and companionship when needed.
• Work with care staff to ensure activities meet residents' needs.
