Job summary

Avon Search's client in Dorking, Surrey, is seeking an Activities Coordinator for a luxury retirement home. You will plan and deliver a varied activities programme, tailored to residents' interests and abilities, to keep them active, socially connected and engaged in daily life.

The role requires energy, creativity and a genuine passion for supporting older people; you will work with care staff to ensure activities suit individual needs and contribute to a warm, not-for-profit environment.

Qualifications

• Experience organising activities, events or social programmes, ideally within a care setting.
• Creative, enthusiastic and outgoing personality.
• Genuine passion for supporting older people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage with people from different backgrounds and varying abilities.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to plan and manage a varied programme of activities.
• Flexible and person-centred approach.
• Ability to work independently while also being part of a wider team.
• Creativity and willingness to introduce new ideas.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate a varied programme of activities.
• Organise activities to suit residents’ interests, abilities and preferences.
• Encourage residents to participate in social and recreational activities.
• Organise group activities, games, crafts, music and entertainment.
• Support trips and outings where appropriate.
• Organise seasonal celebrations and special events.
• Encourage residents to maintain hobbies and stay socially connected.
• Spend time getting to know residents and what is important to them.
• Work with care staff to ensure activities are appropriate for individual needs.
