Trial Balance Consulting have been exclusively engaged by a new client, a well-established hospitality focussed business based in Newton Abbot. The company seeks to recruit an Accounts & Payroll Assistant to join their small finance function. This is a permanent, part time opportunity offering a 22-30 hour working week (ideally over 4 days but with flexibility to suit the successful candidate). The role will be based on site on the outskirts of Newton Abbot and offers free parking.
This employer has an excellent reputation for staff retention and this brand new opportunity comes about through continued business growth. Working closely with alongside an experienced Financial Controller the role represents a great opportunity for candidate looking to increase their range of responsibility and further develop their career in finance. Key responsibilities to include:
- Processing of accounts payable invoices and maintaining supplier payment runs
- Posting and issuing sales ledger invoices
- Monitoring status of aged debt book
- Bank and petty cash reconciliations
- Administration of payroll and time management systems
- Assisting Financial Controller with weekly/monthly payroll processing
- Frequently assisting the FC with accounting projects and other tasks with critical deadlines
For this role we seek a candidate with at least 18 months of recently gained experience in a similar position, with a good understanding of transactional accounting processes. Candidates may be either part/fully AAT qualified or consider themselves to be qualified through vocational experience. Strong MS Excel skills are essential and Sage based accounting and payroll systems experience would be desirable, though training will be offered. The Financial Controller is keen to ensure that candidates that require mentoring, training and development are encouraged to apply; the role works in a nurturing environment where long service is commonplace.
