Part-time Accountant

Type: Part-time, flexible, 20 hours per week

Location: Sawston, Cambridge (office-based)

Salary: In the region of £35k pro rata, depending on experience

We are hiring a part-time Accountant at our Sawston office. We offer flexible hours to accommodate your other commitments, such as school drop-offs.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and statements
• Supporting month-end processes and closing
• Assisting with budgeting and forecasting cycles
• Supporting year-end audits
• Allocating customer funds and monitoring customer accounts
• Preparing monthly VAT returns
• Reconciling bank accounts and financial records for accuracy
• Supporting monthly payroll
• Preparing supplier payment runs
• Processing and analyzing company credit card statements
• Preparing and posting journal entries
• Monitoring cash flow
• Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes

Experience, attributes, and skills

• Ability to take accounts to trial balance
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with attention to detail
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) — full or part-qualified
• Accuracy in maintaining financial records
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accountancy software (experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus; training can be provided)
• Effective communication skills with clients and colleagues
• Analytical skills to interpret financial data
• Problem-solving skills for resolving discrepancies
