We are currently working with a top 30 Accountancy practice who are looking to hire an experienced Bookkeeper for a part-time opportunity in their office near Ely. This role would be ideal for an experienced bookkeeper seeking to gain large company experience while working on a part-time basis.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Maintaining the books and records of clients and producing accounts up to a trial balance.
  2. Demonstrating commercial awareness and monitoring assignment budgets/recoveries.
  3. Handling queries confidently, discussing with clients, and suggesting sensible conclusions, while also resolving complex queries with initiative.
  4. Referring complex queries to the assignment supervisor and suggesting appropriate actions.
  5. Preparing VAT returns and assisting junior team members in preparing returns.
  6. Adhering to compliance procedures: following instructions, making clear notes, and following outlined procedures.
  7. Working with minimal supervision, being self-motivated.
  8. Managing a varied workload with flexibility.
  9. Scoping assignments and identifying delegation opportunities.
  10. Training new trainees on relevant software.
  11. Keeping the team leader informed of progress and issues.
  12. Seeking help for queries beyond current knowledge.
  13. Seeking additional tasks to broaden skills and experience.
  14. Showing interest in clients’ business factors.
  15. Suggesting improvements to clients’ systems and procedures.
  16. Handling client queries confidently and professionally.
  17. Communicating effectively with colleagues and being a reliable team player.

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  1. To be AAT part or fully qualified, or qualified by experience.
  2. Good telephone manner, email communication skills, and customer service skills.
  3. Excellent IT skills, with knowledge of cloud-based accountancy software being a significant advantage.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
