Job summary

Sunderland City Council is seeking a Civil Enforcement Officer to patrol on and off street parking areas in Sunderland wards. The role focuses on liaising with the public, advising on parking rules and issuing penalty charges as required.

Applicants should be able to communicate well, handle difficult situations, and work toward becoming accredited (Parking) with appropriate DBS checks. Full-time hours and a shift pattern are outlined in the posting.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate with customers and provide excellent people skills.
• Able to handle and diffuse difficult situations.
• Become a fully accredited Civil Enforcement Officer and achieve Certificate for Civil Enforcement Officers (Parking) or equivalent.
• Short assessment required as part of the interview process.

Responsibilities

• Carry out on and off street parking enforcement in Sunderland ward areas.
• Liaise with members of the public and advise on parking issues and enforcement procedures.
• Issue penalty charge notices to vehicles parked in contravention.
• Adhere to the Council's customer care policy and uphold DBS requirements where applicable.
• Use CCTV and other equipment as part of enforcement duties.
