Job summary

Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster is seeking a Parish Administrator for Our Lady of Hal Parish in Camden Town. The role is a 12-month fixed term, part-time 16HPW, at £15 per hour. You will support the Parish Priest and community with essential administrative tasks, newsletters, bookings and GDPR compliance.

We value discretion, professionalism, and the ability to work independently, liaising with staff, clergy and volunteers to ensure smooth parish operations and effective communications.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative, secretarial or similar role.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of discretion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute weekly newsletters, Mass sheets and parish communications.
  • Manage and update parish website, social media channels and email databases.
  • Maintain parish records and sacramental registers.
  • Coordinate diaries, appointments and parish bookings.
  • Manage correspondence, records and filing systems.
  • Order church, office and repository supplies.
  • Support meetings through agenda preparation, minute taking and document distribution.
  • Assist with parish financial administration where required.
  • Administer bookings for baptisms, weddings, funerals and Mass intentions.

Our Lady of Hal Parish is seeking a highly organised and compassionate Parish Administrator to provide essential administrative and office management support to the Parish Priest and parish community. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Parish Communications
  • Prepare and distribute weekly newsletters, Mass sheets and parish communications.
  • Manage and update the parish website, social media channels and email databases.
  • Maintain parish records and sacramental registers.
Administration and Office Management
  • Coordinate diaries, appointments and parish bookings.
  • Manage correspondence, records and filing systems.
  • Order church, office and repository supplies.
  • Support meetings through agenda preparation, minute taking and document distribution.
  • Assist with parish financial administration where required.
Parish and Liturgical Support
  • Administer bookings for baptisms, weddings, funerals and Mass intentions.
  • Maintain attendance records for sacramental programmes.
  • Coordinate hall bookings and support parish events and fundraising activities.
  • Liaise with contractors and service providers regarding parish property matters.
Volunteer and Compliance Support
  • Coordinate volunteer rotas and schedules.
  • Support GDPR compliance and health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure parish volunteers have completed required training.
What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in an administrative, secretarial or similar role.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently using initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, welcoming manner.
  • High levels of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • The ability to work effectively with staff, clergy and volunteers.
  • Sensitivity, compassion and sound judgement when dealing with people and situations

Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.
