Job summary

Amersham Vale Practice, a training practice at the Waldron Health Centre, is recruiting a paramedic practitioner to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary primary care team.

The role centres on triage, on-call duties, home visits and minor illness, with the post holder managing assessment, diagnosis, treatment and referral. Working alongside advanced nurse practitioners, a clinical pharmacist and GP trainees, the post suits someone comfortable making independent clinical decisions.

Qualifications

• Requires HCPC paramedic registration.
• Completion of stages 1 and 2 of the HEE practice roadmap.
• Minimum two years in primary care or a similar setting.
• Triage experience including minor illness and injury.
• Five or more years leading a healthcare service.

Responsibilities

• Triage and treat patients with specialist assessment and referral.
• Manage patient caseloads including treatment, referral, admission and discharge.
• Carry out face-to-face, telephone and home consultations with on-call duties.
• Prescribe and review medication within scope of practice and protocols.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions with drug and non-drug treatment.
• Request and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays and blood tests.
• Coordinate care planning with patients, carers and relatives.
• Deliver care in line with NICE guidance and evidence-based practice.
• Work within the multidisciplinary team and refer to primary/secondary care.
• Maintain CPD and participate in audits and practice change.
