Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a Paramedic Practitioner to join a multidisciplinary team operating from Selsdon Park Medical Practice. You will conduct autonomous clinical assessments, lead minor ailments clinics, and perform home visits to support patients in their own environment.

You will manage long‑term conditions, refer to community teams, and contribute to safe patient pathways with a focus on treating at or near home.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Paramedic.
• Autonomous practitioner experience in minor injury or illness settings or mobile service.
• Ability to assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate using a medical model.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patients in their homes, alone or as part of a team.
• Assess patients at risk of hospital admission.
• Run minor ailments clinics within the practice.
• Support long-term condition monitoring and care plans.
• Carry out patient assessments, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation, with autonomous clinical judgment.
• Perform point-of-care tests (urine dipstick, glucose, BP, ECG, spirometry, swabs).
• Take blood samples for lab testing.
• Make clinical decisions from assessment and history.
• Vaccinate patients and refer to community teams.
• Maintain and update clinical records; shape multidisciplinary pathways near home.

Job description

This Paramedic Practitioner post sits at Selsdon Park Medical Practice, a training practice serving 17,500 patients and working as a multidisciplinary team with GPs, pharmacists and nurses. The work centres on minor ailment clinics, acute home visits and monitoring patients with long-term conditions, with referrals to community teams. It suits a registered Paramedic with autonomous experience in a minor injury or illness centre or a mobile service.

What the job involves

• Respond to patients in their own homes, alone or as part of a team
• Assess patients who are at risk of hospital admission
• Run minor ailments clinics within the practice
• Support long-term condition monitoring and care plans
• Carry out patient assessments, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation, using a medical model to prescribe for acute conditions
• Perform point-of-care tests: urine dipstick, blood glucose, blood pressure, 12-lead ECG, FEV1/peak flow, and wound or infection swabs
• Take blood samples for laboratory testing
• Make clinical decisions from assessment, medical history and available resources
• Vaccinate patients
• Refer patients to community teams and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Safety-net patients and update clinical records
• Help shape multidisciplinary pathways across health and social care that keep care in or close to the patient's home

What’s required

Experience

• Experience as an autonomous practitioner in a minor injury or illness centre or mobile service

Nice to have

• Experience in primary, secondary or community care
