Job summary

A&O Shearman in Belfast is seeking a Paralegal – Data Privacy Analyst to join our Data Privacy Team. The role supports the team on AI, data governance and GDPR compliance across the firm, handling data requests and maintaining records.

You will work with senior stakeholders, contribute to policies, and help deliver training materials. The ideal candidate has a law degree, strong IT skills (PowerPoint, Excel, MS Office) and a keen interest in data privacy, cyber security or AI in a legal

Qualifications

• A law degree is required.
• Excellent IT skills with PowerPoint, Excel and MS Office.
• Experience in a professional environment is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload.
• Attention to detail and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support the Data Privacy Team, including AI and data governance work.
• Analyse and interpret data to support advisory and operational tasks, including rights requests.
• Maintain documentation under data protection laws and coordinate with global teams.
• Manage privacy software for GDPR compliance and record-keeping.
• Triaging queries and escalating as needed to the team.
• Help develop and update global data privacy policies and pro-forma documents.
• Ensure regulatory registrations and notifications are up to date.
• Assist with communications, presentations and training materials.
• Support the team in delivering the global privacy compliance programme.
• Maintain logs and trackers to demonstrate compliance.
• Conduct research to aid the team and the global business.
