Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join our specialist palliative care services in Central Lancashire. The post is substantive at 0.8 WTE within the hospital specialist palliative care service.

The team includes 6 consultants delivering specialist palliative care across hospital, community and hospice settings, with a 1:6 on-call rota for consultant advice to services at St Catherine’s Hospice and LTHT.

Responsabilités

• Provide specialist palliative medical input within the Trust.
• Support the Palliative Care CNS team through MDT input, telephone advice and joint reviews.
• Represent Specialist Palliative Care at cancer site / non-cancer disease MDT meetings.
• Complete administration duties associated with Specialist Palliative Care provision.
• Work with Clinical Director for Palliative Care and leadership teams on operational and strategic matters.
• Lead clinical audit, quality improvement and governance activities.
• Participate in bi-monthly Specialist Palliative Care Directorate meetings.
• Supervise trainees and other staff in specialist palliative medicine.
• Support multi-professional education and training in palliative care.
• Provide cross-cover for colleagues across hospital, community and hospice services.
• Participate in a 1 in 6 non-residential on-call rota.
