Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust invites applications for a substantive Consultant in Palliative Medicine. The post will join a dynamic team across Staffordshire and Cheshire, delivering specialist palliative care services in hospital and via collaborations with hospices and community teams.

The role includes teaching and leading the Palliative Care curriculum, with a 10 PA schedule and an on-call commitment. Applications welcomed for less than full-time or job-share arrangements.

Qualifications

• Full registration with the GMC.
• Entry on Specialist Register or in UK training scheme or within 6 months of award of CCT at time of interview or CESR application in progress through Portfolio Pathway for Specialist Registration.
• A higher degree (eg MSc in Palliative Medicine).

Responsibilities

• Join an existing dynamic team of 4 consultants to expand Specialist Palliative Care services.
• Provide specialist palliative advice, outpatient services and inpatient care for 10 beds.
• Collaborate with local hospices and community services; lead undergraduate Palliative Care education at Keele University School of Medicine.
