Job summary

Mersey West Lancashire NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant in Community Palliative Medicine to join the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team in St Helens and Knowsley. The post focuses on improving consultant cover within the community, expanding domiciliary visits for complex patients, and developing pathways with primary care and acute trusts.

The appointee will work across services with Whiston Hospital and Willowbrook Hospice, holding GMC registration and Specialist Register status, or

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and on Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of CCT
• Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK or equivalent) desired
• UK-trained applicants or evidence of equivalence for CCT will be considered
• MBBS, MRCP and MD/PhD qualifications are required

Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-led care within the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary team activities and governance.
• Develop pathways to reduce avoidable hospital admissions.
• Participate in clinical governance, CPD, and revalidation activities.
• Manage clinical administration and time planning according to PA allocation.
